The multi part case is thin and light, yet still secure. The lock attaches on one end so the iPad is still completely usable. When your ready to go, the lock strip across the back of your iPad is removed do your just left with the hard protective back case, without any big bulk. Important if you need to be able to lock/unlock quickly.
