Long before anyone was sharing little photos via social services like Facebook and Instagram, there was larger services Flickr and 500px. While the smaller services started with the iPhone and iPad in mind, making it easy to share photos through uploading and commenting, the larger services did little more than ‘mobile’ Web sites.
A couple months ago 500px offered an app to view, like and comment on photos others have posted on the site. Now, PhotoStackr for 500px is providing a solution that lets us upload our photos to the service too… all via our iPads.
The PhotoStackr app launches to an overview of photos on 500px. By default, the layout shows 5 pictures wide and scrolls up/down. A two finger pinch/expand will increase the size of the photos, lessening the quantity per page showing.
A list view of the photos is also available, providing the name of the photo and photographer.
The PhotoStackr for 500px app lets you choose a photo, view more info on the photograph, the photographer and other photos in the collection.
The upper bar for photos changes when logged into your 500px account. Allowing voting and liking photos.
Choosing the ‘Home’ icon from anywhere takes you to the 500px list of photo groups like Popular, Upcoming and Fresh Today. This list varies a bit when you allow PhotoStackr for 500px to be logged into your 500px account. This is where you access ‘upload’ photos too. All of the photo meta information can be edited at the time of your uploads.
All of the areas have pickers to narrow down the photos being viewed into their Categories.
